Green Bean Casserole

A tasty traditional recipe with a few additions to change it up a little!

    Ingredients

  • 3 cups Green beans, thawed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon prepared mustard
  • 1/2 cup liquid from drained green beans
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup Bacon, Cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs tossed with 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/4 cup French Onions
    Directions

  1. Cook beans in microwave or stove top until hot; drain and reserve 1/2 cup of cooking liquid.
  2. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a saucepan on medium heat; blend in flour. Add milk slowly and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Add cheese, mustard, and reserved cooking liquid. Stir until cheese melts.
  3. Add salt and pepper and bacon crumbs.
  4. Place alternating layers of green beans and sauce in a greased casserole dish, then top with buttered crumbs and french onions.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

  1. This was super good. I like it better than the recipe with the cream of mushroom.

  2. I used a bag of the already cooked steak and this was so quick and wonderful. I added tomatoes and onions to the salad, tossed in the steak and wrapped it up. Maybe 2 minutes.
