Homemade Bread
Easy, Classic recipe.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups Warm Water
- 2 Tbsp. (or pkgs) of Yeast
- 2 Tbsp. Sugar
- 5 1/2 cups Flour
- 2/3 cup Powdered Milk
- 1/3 cup Vegetable Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- Butter
Directions
- In large bowl add water, sugar and yeast. Allow yeast to activate for 2-3 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of flour; mix.
- Add powdered milk; mix.
- Add oil and salt; mix.
- Now slowly add in remaining flour, mixing and kneading.
- You can add more or less flour so bread is not sticky, but not too firm.
- Kneed bread for 2-3 more minutes on floured counter top.
- Place back in bowl, lay a kitchen tea towel over it and let rise until doubles in size.
- Punch down and knead one more time, let rise again. (optional, but makes the bread fluffier.)
- Separate into two grease loaf pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top.
- Butter top of bread, turn out and onto side to cool.
