Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce
This is my aunt Gaila’s famous spaghetti sauce! Make on a slow afternoon so you have time to simmer.
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
- 1 lb. Ground Sausage
- 2 Stalks Celery, chopped
- 3 Cloves Garlic, minced
- 2 16oz Cans Stewed Tomatoes
- 2 8oz Cans Tomato Sauce
- 3 oz Can Mushrooms, drained
- 1/4 Cup Parsley Flakes
- 1 1/2 tsp. Oregano
- 1/4 tsp. Thyme
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp. Lemon Juice
- 2 Tbsp. Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Cup Wine
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions
- Brown onion, sausage, celery, and garlic together in large saucepan.
- Add remaining ingredients, except wine and simmer for 1 hour.
- Add wine and simmer additional hour.
- Serve with pasta (great in lasagna too)
