This is my aunt Gaila’s famous spaghetti sauce! Make on a slow afternoon so you have time to simmer.

  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 lb. Ground Sausage
  • 2 Stalks Celery, chopped
  • 3 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 16oz Cans Stewed Tomatoes
  • 2 8oz Cans Tomato Sauce
  • 3 oz Can Mushrooms, drained
  • 1/4 Cup Parsley Flakes
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. Thyme
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tbsp. Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 Cup Wine
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
    Directions

  1. Brown onion, sausage, celery, and garlic together in large saucepan.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, except wine and simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Add wine and simmer additional hour.
