Spaghetti Pie

Spaghetti–but in a casserole

    Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • Basil fresh or dried to taste ( I like a least 1 T. of fresh.)
  • 1 clove garlic, or to taste
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1 package McCormick spaghetti mix with mushrooms
  • 1-16 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 T. Chopped green pepper
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp. honey or sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. olive oil
  • 1 8oz package Cream Cheese
  • Parmesan cheese ( fresh grated is best)
  • Spaghetti, apprx 9 oz.
    Directions

  1. Bring 3 quarts of water to boil. Add the spaghetti and cook. I don’t completely cook my spaghetti. Drain. I leave is slightly under done.
  2. Prepare the spaghetti sauce. Saute the mushrooms in olive oil. until soft. Add ground beef and basil, garlic, and pepper. Brown. Stir in the mix, tomato sauce and water, and olive oil. Simmer 15-20 minutes.
  3. Add the spaghetti to a buttered pie pan or 8×8 baking dish. Slice the cream cheese into thin slices. Place on the spaghetti. Pour the sauce over the spaghetti and cream cheese. Bake at 350 F. for 30 minutes. Add the Parmesan cheese to the top and bake about 5 more minutes.
